The Ardbeg Collection | Islay Whisky

Goedhuis & Co

The first in a new series of limited releases, we are delighted to offer the very rare Ardbeg Anthology 2023: The Harpy's Tale 13 Year Old at £141.00 per bottle inc. VAT

Released annually over the next three years, the Ardbeg Anthology is a collection of mythical malts, which will tell the tale of three exceptionally rare and unique liquids. Another innovative conception from Head of Distilling and the ‘Willy Wonka of Whisky’, Dr. Bill Lumsden, the series will showcase his matchless reputation for cask management and experimental maturations.

There’s an appetite for all things rare at Ardbeg. Inspired by the seldom-seen Harpy, a winged beast said to inhabit Islay, this exceptional single malt is a liquid ode to the most unbelievable of encounters. In a first for the distillery, this 13 Year Old is a harmonious marriage of whisky matured in sought-after Sauternes casks and classic ex-bourbon. The result is a seemingly inconceivable coalescence of Islay smoke and sweet wine splendour.

First imagined only as a flight of fantasy, this limited release is unmistakably Ardbeg but with a fantastical twist.

Apricots - Sage - Honey | 46% ABV

Ardbeg: The Core Range

An icon of Islay, Ardbeg is worshipped around the world, with connoisseurs referring to it ‘as close to perfection as makes no difference’. As well as the brand new limited edition release, we are thrilled to offer five exceptional single malts from the distillery’s core range, each of which embody the smoke-soaked essence of Ardbeg in their own special way.

Ardbeg Wee Beastie

£40.50 per bottle inc. VAT

Wee Beastie by name, wee beastie by nature, this is a formidable and feisty young creature, and is the most recent expression to join the Distillery’s core range. With maturation in both ex-bourbon and ex-Oloroso casks, there is a delightful interplay between rich coffee, black pepper, and sappy pine resin on the nose, while the palate possesses an explosive mouthfeel, bursting with dark chocolate, eucalyptus, and subtle hints of aniseed. Even at the tender age of 5 Years Old, this is still a fully fledged monster of a dram.

Dark chocolate - Eucalyptus - Aniseed | 47.4% ABV

Ardbeg 10 Year Old

£50.00 per bottle inc. VAT

Widely acknowledged as the smokiest and most complex single malt of them all, this is the distillery’s calling card and is rightly revered across the globe. Yet despite its smoky reputation, the 10 Year Old doesn’t flaunt its peat, but rather allows it to shepherd the natural sweetness of the malt. Sea spray and zesty lemon oil are at the forefront, while waves of brine, buttermilk, and ripe bananas come together on the palate. Notes of espresso and liquorice root finish off this flagship single malt. A home saloon staple.

Sea spray - Buttermilk - Liquorice | 46% ABV

Ardbeg An Oa

£53.00 per bottle inc. VAT

Named after the Mull of Oa, a rounded peninsula that protects the distillery from the Atlantic’s wrath, An Oa packs a peaty punch, yet the smoke is mellowed by silky butterscotch, sweet orange, and hints of cinnamon. This is largely thanks to a spell spent in Ardbeg’s newly established Gathering Vat, where several cask types, such as PX, virgin charred oak, and ex-bourbon all combine. Gentle yet intense, An Oa finishes with a delightful medley of pecan nuts, mint toffee, and malt biscuits. A storm-shelter of a single malt.

Orange - Fennel - Tar | 46.6% ABV

Ardbeg Uigeadail

£71.00 per bottle inc. VAT

Pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’, and Gaelic for ‘a dark, mysterious place’, this whisky is named after the distillery’s principal water source, Loch Uigeadail. The peat-laden waters provide the smoky backbone of this whisky, while a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks give rich, warm flavours of winter spices, treacle tart, and honey-glazed smoky bacon. A dramatic dram, it was voted by the 120,000 + strong Ardbeg Committee as their favourite of the range. And they know their stuff.

Treacle - Smoky bacon - Nutmeg | 54.2% ABV

Ardbeg Corryvreckan

£86.00 per bottle inc. VAT

Not one for the faint-hearted, Corryvreckan takes its name from the famous whirlpool that lies to the north of Islay, where only the most fearless souls dare to venture. Like its namesake, this fabled dram is a maelstrom of flavours and aromas, where on the surface you’ll find warm blackcurrants, cherries, and muscovado sugar, while peat and pepper lurk beneath. Awarded The World’s Best Single Malt in 2010, its finish is long and deep, with swirls of dark fruits and star anise. A breath over 57% abv, this fiery dram is a real cockle-warmer.

Blackcurrants - Pepper - Black Coffee | 57.1% ABV

Known as ‘The Queen of the Hebrides’, Islay has long been the reigning monarch of smoke-filled single malt whisky. Many historians even believe that Scotch whisky was born on the island, with distillation arriving from Ireland via Islay in the 13th century.

Despite its size, this small island is jam-packed with a number of distilleries, including the legendary Ardbeg. Often described as smoky, briny, and medicinal, Islay takes its characteristic flavours from the peat fuel used during the malting stage of production.
